A Functional Nutritional Therapist is not licensed or certified by any state. However, a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner ™ is trained by the Nutritional Therapy Association, Inc.® which provides a certificate of completion to students who have successfully met all course requirements, including a written and practical exam. A license to practice Nutritional Therapy is not required in some states. Laws and regulations regarding certification and licensure requirements differ from state to state.

A Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner™ (NTP) is a paraprofessional certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association, Inc.® trained to evaluate a client’s nutritional needs and make recommendations of dietary change and nutritional supplementation based on the following:

• Client Interview
• Analysis of Client’s Food Journal
• Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire
• Functional Evaluation
• Lingual-Neuro Testing

A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner™ is not trained to provide medical diagnosis or treatment of any medical or pathological condition, illness, injury or disease. No recommendation or comment made by a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner™ should be construed as being medical advice or diagnosis.
